The Institution

TAG Arts Guild is a center for learning, making, research, publishing, and creative community — devoted to fashion design, fiber arts, textile craft, couture construction, wearable art, costume design, and soft sculpture.

Founded and led by Maria Fenton, Fine Arts Professor of Fashion Design at Howard University, the Guild teaches in person in Washington, DC at K Bird Studio, 1333 P St NW. Instruction is couture-aligned: hand skills, drafted patterns, fitted muslins, and finish work held to atelier standards.

Alongside the studio, TAG publishes, researches, and convenes. Everyone interacts with textiles — from utilitarian use to artistic practice — and the Guild welcomes every role and every level. Everyone has a place in the community.
